Thermal imaging surveys will find missing insulation. It can also locate defective, damp and poorly installed insulation. A comprehensive thermographic survey will allow you to challenge poor workmanship, target repair work and ultimately reduce your energy bills.

You may be surprised to learn that building control officers aren’t required to check insulation during construction. Buildings can be compliant with Part L of the building regulations while deviating significantly from the design on which that compliance was based. This is called the “performance gap” and it can result in properties being more costly to heat than advertised or shown on the EPC.

Although insulation is sometimes missed altogether, it is far more common to find that it has been badly installed. Poor workmanship can be locked into the fabric of the building, and it can have real consequences for your thermal comfort and your pocket. (Poorly installed insulation can also increase the risk of mould growth and condensation.)  Challenge poor workmanship by revealing it through a thermal imaging survey.
